Introducing theme app add-ons: Build and bundle apps with your themes
Shopify developer change
MerchantDiff detected this entry in Shopify's official developer changelog on October 28, 2026.
This Shopify update is categorized as Shopify Theme Store, New.
What changed
Theme developers can now build storefront apps using theme app extensions and bundle them with their theme listings on the Theme Store. Theme app add-ons extend your theme with advanced functionality while creating new monetization opportunities through Shopify App Pricing. Use theme app extensions to build app blocks that integrate natively with your theme, such as: Product customization and configuration tools Subscription and recurring purchase management Advanced product filtering, search, and wishlists Once your storefront app is published, you can add it to your theme in the Partner Dashboard. Merchants see app add-ons featured on your theme listing page, including pricing information, featured media, app name, and subtitle. When they install your theme, they can also install your app in a single flow.
